About the Artist
Ellen MacEwan
Watercolor – Equine and Bird
Making art is my way of looking inward—of expressing the deepest parts of myself when words fall short. I use an intuitive process to explore themes of nature, motherhood, and spiritual transcendence, guided by a belief that the sacred can be found in everyday moments, especially in the natural world. My work seeks to elevate these subjects and radiate a sense of wonder and positive energy to those who encounter it.
My mission as an artist is to inspire and uplift. I aim to create pieces that not only beautify their surroundings but also invite viewers to connect with the best parts of themselves. In my work, the earthly meets the ethereal, blending abstract and representational elements to create a space where we can coexist with the divine. Horses appear frequently in my work, not as literal subjects but as emissaries of spirit and strength. I have always been drawn to their quiet power, their gentleness and intuition, and the way they symbolize connection to something ancient and enduring.
Ultimately, my art is a gentle invitation to see, feel, and remember what matters. We are constantly surrounded by quiet wonders, if only we take the time to pause and notice. I see these paintings as both mirrors and meditations: they reflect internal landscapes while also inviting stillness and contemplation.
