TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT YOURSELF:

I was raised in Michigan, where the outdoors shapes the rhythm of daily life and creativity is deeply influenced by nature. From an early age, art has been a constant presence in my life. I began drawing with pencils and gradually expanded into acrylics, oils, and watercolors as my artistic practice evolved. Since 2007, I have called Arizona home, where the desert landscape, expansive skies, and ever-changing sunsets have become a powerful source of inspiration in my work.

Acrylic on canvas has become my preferred medium, as it offers both flexibility and immediacy. It allows me to build rich layers, explore texture, and create a strong sense of depth while still working intuitively. As the years have passed, my style has continued to evolve, with light becoming a guiding compass in my work. I am drawn to how light shapes mood, movement, and form, using it to lead the viewer through each piece. While my approach has grown more nuanced over time, bright, expressive color remains a constant—an essential element of my visual language and emotional expression.

Alongside my personal practice, I create commissioned paintings for clients, collaborating closely to translate their stories, spaces, and emotions into meaningful works of art. At the same time, I continue to paint intuitively, allowing curiosity and instinct to guide what appears on the canvas, honoring both structure and spontaneity in my creative process.

DESCRIBE YOUR WORK: 

My artwork is mostly acrylic on canvas. I focus on texture, layers, light, and bold color. A lot of my inspiration comes from the Arizona desert and its sunsets, but I don’t try to paint them exactly as they are. I paint intuitively and let each piece develop on its own, using color and movement to create work that feels alive and open to interpretation.

WHY DID YOU APPLY TO EMERGING ARTIST PROGRAM:

I am applying to this program to expand my audience and explore new opportunities for exposure. I am ready to exhibit my work in a gallery setting and connect with collectors, curators, and other artists who share a passion for visual art. This program offers the guidance, visibility, and community I need to take the next step in sharing my work more broadly.
