CAROL L BENDELL

Pastel & Watercolor

  • A working artist and teacher Carol’s passion is reflected in her body of work, recognized through featured showings and commission works across two continents, from her beginnings in Chicago to Copenhagen, Honolulu and now Arizona.

With technical skills honed at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago where she was mentored by famed Master Etcher Vera Berdich, a Picasso protegé, and the graduate school of Fine Arts at the Illinois Institute of Technology, Institute of Design, Carol’s work has continued to evolve.

A onetime scientific illustrator at the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History, her drawings strive to highlight patterns and structure of nature and reflect the influence of renowned Professor Brie Taylor.

Pastels and watercolor, both utilizing solid drawing skills as the foundation of her compositions are her current focus.

  • I’m a pastel and watercolor artist, who has also been a teacher of visual art for most of my adult life. In my artwork, I specialize in portraiture of people and animals.

  • People, their emotions and circumstances are great inspirations. I also love to see the animal behaviors and the patterns of the natural world.
